In simple terms, grease traps are designed to trap fatty oils, grease and sludge (FOGs). The substances pass through a catching system, which gives them time to cool down and solidify allowing the water passes through the drain as normal. This separates unwanted fats and oils from grey water, before it enters the waste water disposal system.
Grease traps are easily overlooked as in many cases, it’s “out of site, out of mind”. If you grease trap becomes slow, or clogged, it poses some real issues.
